She fell in love with skateboarding at six after watching some skaters at the park and pestered her dad into getting her one. He bought her a second-hand one, figuring she'd get bored and move on to the next thing when she got tired of falling off but she didn't. Harley was persistent and would practice every day, going to the local skate park at the weekend to watch and learn from older skaters. When she started to get good, she began to enter competitions - which is were her parents eventually saw that it wasn't just a hobby, it was something she was serious about and so began to support her. When she was twelve, the family decided to uproot and move to hickstead, england. She found the move extremely hard as she was settled, had good friends and loved her school. Joining high school a year after all of her classmates was tough and her accent and her love of sport quickly made her a target for bullies. She hated the social aspect of school but loved all of the sports they offered, joining the netball and football teams. She was able to make a few friends on the teams which made the bullying that little bit easier. Having no local skate park meant skateboarding alone for a few years until she was old enough to take the bus by herself into the city. Finally with like-minded people, she began to make good friends and started to adjust to english life. The year after leaving school was a particular tough year for Harley. Years of bullying had left her with anxiety and with not having her sister around as much, she kept what she was feeling to herself which led to low self esteem and overthinking. She'd always been an over emotional person, often having high highs and low lows which could sometimes be too much. She was struggling with her sexuality at the time which really didn't help the situation. Seeing her struggling, her parents sent her to therapy which helped her learn coping mechanisms and how to handle her emotions when she was feeling overwhelmed. She came out to her family at seventeen and with that weight off her shoulders she began to grow into a more confident person. She was extremely close to her sister until she met her boyfriend when Harley was sixteen. He seemed like a nice guy and she liked that he made her sister happy but she hated the way they began to spend less and less time together. Over the years it felt like she was being pushed out of her sisters life and she grew tired of trying to fit into her sister's schedule - which became even harder once her niece and nephews came along. She knew her sister was extremely busy with three kids, a husband and a household to run but she was hurt that her sister couldn't find the time for her. In the end she withdrew from Bella, ignoring her when she did try to reach out.
